Founded by Greek colonists in the 6th century BC, Tomis was conquered by the Romans and renamed Constantiana by Roman Emperor Constantine, in honor of his sister. The name became Constanta during the Ottoman era. Constanta flourished after the 13th century, based on Genoese influence in the area.
In the 19th century, when King Carol I decided to revive Constanta as a port and seaside resort, the city knows a new development era.
Nowadays, Constanta is an important cultural and economic center, worth exploring for its archaeological treasures and the atmosphere of the old town center. Its historical monuments, ancient ruins, the Casino, museums and shops, and proximity to beach resorts make it the focal point of Black Sea coast tourism. O

Tour description
Meeting with the guide at the touristic harbor.
Short presentation of the tour, history and description of the local history, culture and architecture.
The tour includes presentation of historical influences in the architectural landscape of the city, but also the current trends and potential future developments.
In the first part of our tour we will visit the main objectives in Constanta, including Ovidiu Square, the Archaeological Museum and the Casino.
We will stop for lunch at a traditional Turkish restaurant or at a local fish tavern before continuing our trip.
After lunch we will visit a local vineyard near Olimp resort, before returning to Constanta.
