Romania and Bulgaria – One Day Tour

Itinerary

• Bucharest - Danube - Ivanovo - Veliko Tarnovo - Arbanasi – Bucharest

  Meeting with the guide in Bucharest and depart to the border with Bulgaria, where we crossed the famous river Danube, the second longest river in Europe - "the king of all rivers, as Napoleon called it. Going through the town of Ruse will reach the village of Ivanovo located 20 km from the town of Ruse.
  The complex of churches, chapels and monasteries dug in the rock, is famous because of its medieval frescoes preserved very well. We can mention that these caves have been inhabited since the year 1220, when the Patriarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church - Ioachim future has founded the monastery. These fresh beautiful that gives fame to this complex and date back to the S 13 and 14, are preserved to this day in 5 churches of this complex and are an example of the medieval Bulgarian art. For its value these churches dug in the rock, have been included in the year 1979 in the list of the World Patrimony – UNESCO.
  
  We continue our journey to the most beautiful city in Bulgaria - Veliko Tarnovo, also known under the name "the city of the Czar". Located on the banks of the river Yantra, Veliko Tarnovoha been the capital of the second Bulgarian Empire. It is one of the most resistant fortifications in the area which attracts the interest of the tourists to visit the ancient fortress situated on three hills: Taravets, Trapezita and Sveta Gora. We can mention that the ancient residences of the tsars and patriarchs were on the Tsaravets hill.
  
  To close the visit we will make a walk through the famous Samovodene market and the town of Veliko Tarnovo, where you can buy souvenirs of this beautiful city.
  We then continue our journey to the village Museum in Arbanassi outdoors, where you can visit the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin and the Konstantilieva House.
  
  Lunch at a local restaurant in this beautiful village of Arbanasi. In the afternoon departure to Bucharest.
  
  Back in Bucharest, we will have a short walk in the old city center for ending the day tour.
